On the primary storyline? Sounds like either you’re not selecting the end of the clips properly so it’s highlighting the entire clip and adding a transition to both ends or it’s time to reinstall Final Cut Pro. If you’re talking about connected clips them the black box is a secondary storyline.
A screen shot would probably help us see what’s happening.

The Bittorent solution might take a little more to set up but once that’s done a client shouldn’t have to do more than click on a link to launch the torrent app and then select where to save the file. Most people will have an I.T. guy somewhere that can do the initial install for them.

Tha fade will be very quick and all you should be able to hear is the very high frequencies. Key frame a high pass filter to match the fade so at the end all you faintly hear are maybe the high-hats and snare.

This is in the browser window? You’re probably seeing the clip’s source timecode. How did your client view the clips? I find it always pays to burn in TC on anything you send a client.
You could make a compound clip of each clip and set the start timecode of the compound clip to 00;00;00 then edit from those.

Personally, I think HDR is a way bigger deal than any resolution increase. i think 4K and HDR will be marketed hand in had to consumers but it’s the HDR that’ll get them to buy new TV sets.

Resolve might do it via XML but Xto7 is your best bet. It’s been a long while since I used Xto7, or XtoCC as it is now but keep in mind that any trip back to FCP 7 is going to be a dumbed down version of the project because 7 ain’t that smart.

I was talking about whether the media is stored inside the fcpx library or externally in the Finder. From what you said, I thought you may have been using internally managed media.
Externally managed media is represented inside the Library by links to the actual media and FCPX seems much better at recovering and relinking if that’s the case. Internally managed media is actually stored inside the event and I’ve found if something goes wrong, and FCPX suddenly thinks the media is missing, it’s much more likely that FCPX will fail to relink.

What happened when you tried to restore one of the automatic backups of the library? It’s not going to solve the missing media but if the library recognises you have media, you should be able to consolidate it back.
Personally, I avoid internally managed media because I find FCPX is much better at recovering from issues with, and relinking to externally managed media.

I haven’t really experienced any of the more extreme issues you’re having. Given everything you’re describing, my thought would be a faulty GPU. Something that’s only showing up when FCPX is stressing it, aalthough I’m assuming other GPU intensive apps like motion are running fine?
I didn’t try the OpenCL setting in film convert, but my issue was with the sluggishness of the user interface so I’m not sure if that would have made any difference there.
