  • You can’t export an OMF directly from FCPX. You need to use a tool like X2Pro to create an AAF or send the project to Davinci Resolve and output an AAF or OMF from there.

Unfortunately, no. The disc authoring facilities in FCPX are pretty basic. What you see is what. you get.

Apart from some limited use encoders that were more experimental than anything, there is no 10-bit version of h264. Certainly, as far as I’m aware, there are no hardware 10-bit decoders. As Gary mentioned, you need to move to H265 to export and play 10-bit.

I haven’t touched Premiere in a long time but my experience was always the opposite – that Premiere clipped the whites way more aggressively than FCPX. I’ll be interested to see side by side images.

have you tried putting the rotated clip inside a compound clip and then applying the Ken Burns effect to the compound clip?

I don’t think you’re missing anything. As far as I know, there’s no way to do what you’re trying to do inside Final Cut. Maybe one of the third party exporters could but I can’t think of one off the top of my head.

  • If ClipExporter doesn’t work, you can achieve the same thing using Marquis Broadcast’s Worx4 X app.

I’m not at my editing computer but from memory, inside the arri colour tool, choose export LUT (L, I think), then I usually choose Davinci Resolve as the format because that’s fairly generic and leave everything else at the defaults. That should give you a working LUT for FCPX.

A .aml file is an ARRI look file, a LUT designed to be loaded into an ARRI camera and can’t be used anywhere else.

The same colour information is saved as metadata with each clip so you can either use the ARRI Colour Tool (available on the ARRI web site) to load the clip, apply the lut and the export a .cube LUT or Davinci Resolve can apply the look from the metadata, and I assume you could export the .cube version from there (but I’ve never actually tested that).
