  • Permissions controls a lot of file types. It wouldn’t surprise me if this worked. Alas, I cannot test the theory not having the new Studio on Tiger. Why would you “not” try it?

I’ll add to that; you are saving system resources by using the serial port on the AJA box. Otherwise, as our collegue states, you have to add a third party serial adapter to your system. It’s not really 422 control; it’s the serial connection to your computer “from” the 422 control port on your deck. That make sense?

    “Studio Network Solutions”

I’ve seen this one before. Can you say how the licensing and costs work for the SANmp line?

“The dual port Atto Celerity retails for about $1200.”

Our 2Gb 3300’s cost that much when they came out. So, I think it’s all relative. For the same price nowadays, we get twice the speed. Sounds good to me! 🙂

I’d delete your QT preferences and re-install the AJA software. What codec do you use to capture with?

Why would you want Chapter markers and then not use them? I’m not sure I understand. If you just don’t want text displayed in the Chapter Markers, then simply delete the text. If you just want them there for compression, then change them to compression markers in FCP.

AFAIK, you have to buy Maya Complete for that featureset now. I don’t believe it’s been updated for use with newer AE versions.

I’ll add the one caveat that you may have to manually relink each of the ones that didn’t work. I have had cases where all of the media was in the same location, but only some of them relinked. Just have to try it.

Keep going from there. You almost had it! There is also a little check box to ensure files with the same relative location will relink. As long as all of the files highlighted are in the same location, it will work.

As far as 422 control – any pro i/o system you get will have it. Yes, FCP will support it. Motion is great for playing around with ideas. I don’t have Motion 2 yet. But Motion 1.0 never made it to production at our facility. We still use AE quite heavily. I’m not sure how that would change, but I’m always open to looking at better mousetraps. I never really caught onto the Boris interfaces much. I like AE too much, probably. Shake is very slick. If you’re doing that kind of work and need very fast feedback, it may do well for you. I wouldn’t, however, keep AE out of your toolbox. It’s too handy and there are way too many plug-ins for it. It’s like the swiss army knife for content creation. And it works pretty damn well, IMO.
