You want a DVD? And not shane’s hardware dvd recorder method? In DVDSP?

Ok.

Set the preferences for DVDSP for background encoding, CBR around 5mbs. The moment you add the video, it’ll start encoding in the background. Continue authoring your DVD.

Or in share – build your own share setting for a CBR encode. One pass, much faster than RT.

You can do this, but you’ll need two macs. Old school sharing – plug FCP firewire output into 2nd mac as firewire -and tell ichat to use the firewire ‘incoming’ video as your video source. This should world with Skype too.

Make sure the view menu is on “All Frames” and Desktop Cinema Video. That should work. Test it also by Desktop Cinema Display on the Main screen (your imac.) It should play in both circumstances.

Two things. Your client is giving you square pixel video, the equivalent of 720×486, non-square.

I’d export QuickTime animation codec to bring it to the mac looking great. Then throw it in an uncompressed SD timeline. This should look dead on perfect.

There’s this software called ‘pluraleyes’ that will auto sync your video and your separately recorded audio for FCP (Which you own, since you own motion.)

If you’re using cubase because you’re comfortable doing other audio work there, doesn’t it import OMF audio (FCP exports that.)

Workflow:
I’d use plural eyes, get the edit where I was happy, zip the video over to motion, key, then send your audio out to cubase to finally ‘finish’ in FCP.

The animation codec was never meant for playback. If you push your video through the Adobe Media Encoder, I’d suggest H.264, HDTV 1080p. This should yield a decent looking picture at the size you want (and file size.)

Harder will be the continuous loop. I’d think about using Encore for that – building a Blu-Ray DVD….setting the track to look – and then having encore build it in flash for you.

I’d go to Sorenson and Telestream directly about this. Additionally, I haven’t (but should) check if Adobe Media Encoder uses more than one core (I think it does.)

Telestream does have a plugin for Compressor that, I think allows Qmaster to take advantage of it. This is a great reason to directly contact the sales departments of these companies – but let us know what they said!

You can install Livetype (if you want it!) from the FCS 2 discs, even after the fact. Just know it won’t be installed with FCS3.
