Second, drag any FINISHED MP4 movie into compressors preset window.
It’ll build a preset based on your MP4 that you can now use for other files.

If it’s creating more than one file, you’re creating a reference movie. You have to have the checkbox “Make self contained” selected.

Shouldn’t be a problem – once in FCP, even if you change the name, the original QuickTime files will be referenced.

If you want to ‘play it safe’ – there’s an app called Name Mangler – and you can quickly remove the # sign from the shots (and later the higher quality ones.)

But you have to do this before you import.

Command Drag to the canvas overlay for Overwrite
or
CMD F12 (make sure of course that f12 is f12 and not your dashboard on your mac)
or
CMD drag your sequence.

This will overwrite the sequence contents to the timeline.

Two tricks, both will work. Hope you’re still reading this.

First, you can BATCH EXPORT in FCP. Load up all your movies, batch export them, and in the batch export window use the MP4 setting that you like. Boom – just like Compressor – some level of batch work.

Second, drag any FINISHED MP4 movie into compressors preset window.
It’ll build a preset based on your MP4 that you can now use for other files.

You need to/want to disable the warning system in OSX. It’s a pretty simple terminal command.

Try viewing the .mts files in MPEG streamclip or VLC player – see if those lines are there all the time. Also make sure you’re viewing the canvas at 100% to check the full quality.

Nope.

This is because soundtrack pro is supposed to output a mix (which could have audio that starts/ends/adjusted in less than a single frame. FCP is 29.97 (or whatever your timebase is..) and STP can be 48k – 48 thousand discreet moments.

You can export each track out fully and put that in FCP so you can do some extra mixing in FCP.
