  • Importing STP native files?

Posted by Erick Puentes on February 2, 2011 at 10:50 pm

I’m fairly new to the the FCP Studio Suite, so forgive if this question is basic. I know how to import various audio files into FCP 7 but can you do the same with a native Soundtrack Pro file? Instead of having to export a file from your project it would be nice to just import the native file. Sort of like importing a PSD image into your project and having control of the various layes. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Nope.

This is because soundtrack pro is supposed to output a mix (which could have audio that starts/ends/adjusted in less than a single frame. FCP is 29.97 (or whatever your timebase is..) and STP can be 48k – 48 thousand discreet moments.

You can export each track out fully and put that in FCP so you can do some extra mixing in FCP.

    Oh… ok. Thank you.

I’ve just been exporting as AIFF and calling it a day. It’s easy enough but with the discovery of having the ability to adjust each layer of a PSD within FCP it got me thinking about the Multiple tracks in a Soundtrack file.
