At least Premiere and AE I would think. I know it takes forever to install the whole thing.

April 23, 2006 at 4:19 am in reply to: is it possible to import premier project into a.e as seperate layers?I think adobe has a list somewhere of which aspects of premiere will be imported and how. I get separate layers for each clip and transition on imports.

I have used the shine plugin to make this effect in the past. Play with the mask and radius parameters to control the size of the “blast”.

I had to make sure any standalone or demo versions of Premiere Pro or AE were uninstalled and then install Production Studio to get Dynamic Link to show up.

Thanks for the post. I did try creating a new sequence in Premiere Pro and then cut and pasted it into a new Premiere project (So just one sequence in the timeline) and then tried to import that file into AE 7 (have not tired 6.5 yet). I got an error message indicating an unknown error occured with the premeire import (I’ll write it down next time) and then it opened various clips with the error:
cannot find vids:cdvc decompressor
I assume this has something to do with Canopus but I’m not sure. Most of the project clips were captured as with the canopus DV codec and anything else is uncompressed. Now AE 6.5 worked just fine with the canopus codec but I will have to see if I get a similar error with that version.
Bottom line is that the import was partially sucessful but many video files ended up being blank so I could not work with them.
I am currently trying to export to intermediate codec (Microcosm), but with the old premiere project I would run into the dreaded “Error Compiling Movie” messages in Premiere. If that happens again, the only way I may be able to get my project exported out of Premiere is by Frameserving it (DebugMode’s plugin) or going to tape and back into AE…

Yes creating a render farm has been a bane of my production setup for a long time and I really need to figure it our for these long projects.
If I brought a premere 30i lower field timeline in AE, could I apply fieldskit de-interacer to it by adding a solid above all the layers and export a 60p like you mentioned above with twixtor?
The experiment where I exported a 60p .avi and imported it into a Sony Vegas 6.0 23.976 project and exported to 24P DVD with 2-3 pulldown flags inserted, worked very well by the way, even most of the hand held pans in the footage de-interlaced well.
The only problem is since I did not de-interlace on a scene by scene basis, sometime hard cuts seem to get a little screwed up and look strange. Also the titles and credits are a little jittery.

Thanks P.
I had so many files in the Premeire project that it did not import well into After Efftects, but that is good to know for next time as I had forgot that work flow alternative. Do you think Dynamic Link could be used somehow with a pluging like twixtor in the new Adobe Production Studio product? Probably not since it only works with importing or creating comps I guess. The current twixtor render of 104029 frames is about 50% done and has about 10 hours to go. In other words, thats a lot of beers… But much fewer than with magic bullet! This is with a dual core opteron overclocked and water cooled with 2GB of ram.
