Hi Bob, I just read your Maxx Digital testimonial and had them send me over a quote. I ended up feeling like someone who had accidentally waked into a Ferrari dealer intending to buy a Honda. My bad. I work at a small non-profit liberal arts college so I need to figure out the cheap way to do this.
We have 3 editing mac pro editing stations all in the same room, and I just want one of them to handle all the storage and hold all the video and video project files for the other workstations, and still be an editing station.
I was thinking a multi-port 10gb Ethernet card in that station, but don’t know if I could just use the 1gb cards that come with mac pros or if they would need single port 10gb cards for them. I also need internet access for the machines, so does that mean I would need a switch, or could the 2nd Ethernet card in the mac pros handle that?
We edit with premiere pro, so we ingest avchd and P2 HD (720P30) footage and use it without transcoding.
I am about to order the third mac pro so any help would be appreciated so I know how to configure it if so (or if) we can use it as a video editing station and the primary video storage system.

Hi, sorry I am late to this thread. I edit in on a mac with avchd files natively (I don’t need to transcode). If I wanted to just use a broadcast monitor for color correction in this workflow, what would I need? I am editing either 1080p or 720p footage.

Agreed. Cow needs an option to close discussions.
Though I am kind of interested in how I would get my AVCHD footage to a news org in HD if I had to and didn’t have a hd tape deck to output to (because we don’t). We would need to output some kind of file we could ftp to them instead I would hope. -

November 18, 2009 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Starting out with HMC150, need workflow/NLE advice please!Hi,
I am getting a AG-HMC150 and will be editing on a Mac, running premiere Pro cs4. It does not look like prospect HD is an option for me, but I do see a mac version of neoHD though I am not sure that would help or not.I do tend to add color correction to my footage (magic bullet looks) so I am trying to figure out what the quickest workflow would be in my case.
Any one else with a mac and brave enough not to only run final cut pro on it??
Thanks!

April 10, 2008 at 4:44 pm in reply to: “application failed to return a video frame” !!!SOS!!!!I just got this error today on my Mac running PPro CS3 on 10.5.2 leopard. It is the most annoying Adobe error I have had to deal with on and off since premiere 6.
What I hate most about it is that you only get the error at the very end of a render/encode/export attempt.
In this case I was trying to export to Encore from within Premiere. I do have some still images in this project and suspect they are having something to do with this.
I also exported to media encoder for flash for web output and worked fine. I am going to try that again now (though what the diffence is I can’t guess).

same problem here. I’m not doing anything to fancy and I am choosing rasterize instead of ingnore on my export. I am using shine, but everything else is text and vectors.

I thought I would try installing fields kit into the Premiere Pro plugins folder, but I can’t find any documentation on what options can use in Premiere.
If I want to output to 59.94 for instance would I have to copy my 30i footage into a 59.94 premiere project same as AE?
Since this is a large 30i project (90 mins), sould I just output a blended 30p fieldskit version instead and then run twixtor on it in AE (I think I will do the twixtor part in AE just to be safe).
When I apply fieldskit in Premeire, the entire monitor window turns red. Not the red X like faid registration, just a red tint. Output seems okay though.
I did not get a manual with the fieldskit software download so where do I find one?
