Creating Gunshot Blast!!!
I’ve been asked my a director of a small indie to see if I can create a gunshot blast out of a revolver in the hand of an actor.
The shot is pretty wide and the actor reacts to the gunshot, but it was never fired (a arms expert was unavailable on that shooting date).
So basically I need to create what would look like a gun firing.
Any suggestions????Thanks

Search the archives for ‘muzzle’. It’s been asked many, many times so you should see lots of good advice. Often it’s called “muzzle flash”.

just draw a mask in that shape and collorize it right. Make it visible just one frame. Done.

I have used the shine plugin to make this effect in the past. Play with the mask and radius parameters to control the size of the “blast”.
