February 28, 2012 at 4:02 am in reply to: DVD Arch. – How to save a theme w/ chapter buttons, but not their text?It seems like there must be a better way. I mean, why have templates and markers if you can’t feed the marker names into the templates?
I did not get an answer, however, and in my case, I had to get it done so I had to resort to manually redo-ing every text entry on each page that used my template. Time-consuming, but at least I got it done. But again, there must be a better way…

I haven’t seen a list, but I agree it would be useful. Some of my dual-screen layouts have taken many months to customize (which is probably pretty common among most users), so I’d rather add in the few missing items as I bump into them rather than start from scratch. As long as I don’t experience any unexplained crashing, I’m apt to stick with my existing layouts. So if you find a comprehensive list of the updated layout differences between 9.1 and 9.5, I’d be interested in adopting those changes.

Right, and a couple other things like some of the new area light types…

Just copying the whole 9.1 tree to make a 9.5 tree and then running the update on that will work fine also. And all plug-ins and so forth will already be intact. However, as usual with updates, if you choose to keep your old prefs and layouts, you might miss a few of the new additions. But I haven’t noticed anything major in that regard with 9.5.

Glad to see this info here (speculation and all). I had just finished typing an email I had finally gotten around to sending out to wondertouch, being as it’s been over a year since the Siggraph 2004 demo of the particleIllusion AE plug-in. Since I’m an AE user as well as a particleIllusion SE user, I had decided to wait for the plug-in version – also since it was initially expected to ship in the 4th quarter of 2004. The last thing I was looking for to complete my email was Alan’s email address so I could try to get the info right from the horse’s mouth, so to speak. A Google search led me back here to the Cow, and then it finally dawned on me to check if this info had already been discussed and posted here. And so it has. One less email clogging up the world.
And just a side-note to Alan – keep up the great work. I’ve been very impressed with the exceptional graphics produced from Illusion 1.0 onward through the current particleIllsion 3.0 incarnation. Kudos to you.

A lot of other people know a ton more about this than I do, but if I were going to drive Cinema characters (biped or quadraped) via motion capture data, I’d definitely use Motion Builder. You may want to consider that approach.

April 3, 2005 at 6:35 am in reply to: why can not select polygons or points on this fileAs I mentioned to you elsewhere, the reason is because the red x-axis arrow is yellow in your scene, which means you have it locked (by double-clicking it earlier). That restricts you to the x-axis. Double-click in an empty area of the view to unlock it.
