December 6, 2011 at 4:52 pm in reply to: after effect running slow after one hour of use but running fast again as soon as restarted?Well Dave, if you would have read thoroughly my post you would have noticed that multiprocessing is turned off. This being said with all respect due to one of the most respectable, venerable, senior “Guru” sharing his merits here on CC (It means I really dig you Dude). But yes the treshold for multiprocessing is 16GB on a quadcore I7, I experienced this. I agree with this. So too much memory is sometimes not enough memory if the processor is not up to date. It echoes with kevin’s statement somehow. ; )

December 6, 2011 at 4:40 pm in reply to: after effect running slow after one hour of use but running fast again as soon as restarted?Kevin this is an answer that goes against all the prejudices one can have about AE. We all try to upgrade the memory, the speed of our disks and processors constantly and then one guy comes with that strange idea ” give less memory” to AE, more to the system. Well, I will try it and let you know by tomorrow.
Thanks for your fast answer.

December 5, 2011 at 1:28 am in reply to: what software can do this? Because DVDSP cannotYour answer makes sense, originally this job was posted as “DVD” formatting, actually the guy wants a CD ROM hence all the confusion. I learned something anyway. Thanks for getting things straight.

November 30, 2011 at 3:42 am in reply to: DVD STUDIO PRO autorun fonction for Mac and PCThanks for your fast answer Michael but I still doubt that its as simple as this because I read the following topic at: https://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Whats-the-difference-between-AutoPlay-and-autorun
“In all versions of Windows from XP to Windows 7, Autorun is executed before Autoplay, unless Autorun is disabled. If it’s not disabled, Autorun will execute and it will search for the Autorun.inf file. In Windows XP, if the Autorun.inf file is found, Autorun can go ahead and bypass Autoplay altogether and launch an application without asking the user first. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, Autorun cannot skip past Autoplay. If there is an Autorun.inf file, it will still be read, but instead of the application being launched automatically, a dialog box will pop up with a list of choices, some of which could be from the Autorun.inf file.”
Moreover when I mean “autorun”, I don’t mean “autoplay” some tracks of the DVD automatically when its inserted but just actually open the first menu. As far as I know the “autoplay” fonction in DVDSP can only applied to a track via the inspector menu in DVDSP so I am not sure how I can get the menu to “open” automatically. I think my message was not totally clear before sorry for this.

I have to resurrect this thread because I had a similar case today. In the comp of a project where there were a bunch of comps, just one comp had its light layers stop working. I had a save of the project where the lights would be working so I imported it open the comp where the lights worked copied all the layers and pasted them in the comp where the lights would not work (before I deleted al the layers in there)
and guess what, the lights would not work again… I finally copied the comp and replaced the whole comp and then it did work. The only suspicion I have is that this was a project converted from CS4 to CS5 other than this I wouldn’t guess coz I checked everything and having worked with AE for more than 15 years I know quite a bunch of tricks…
Any Idea?(we’re at a thousand miles from a “3D layer switch on or off” issue here, I guess…)
