June 20, 2012 at 12:02 am in reply to: Apple/Microsoft Ecosystems — If Mac Pro is EOL, why stay with Apple at all? From all that I’ve read lately, I was under the impression it was EOL. If Apple continues to produce work stations, I’m not going anywhere.

If so, that changes everything.

Those aren’t the kind of words I personally prefer to have define my working life – but everyone’s different.”
What are you saying? I should quit this show because I’d slightly prefer to work with FCP7/OSX over Windows/Media Composer? Why be such a snob? The product I produce at the end of the day defines my working life, not the software or operating system I used to juxtapose said show.
From what I understand, FCP 7 and Mac Pro are DEAD, I’ve decided to go with Windows/Media Composer for my freelance work… It’s not like I have a lot of options as an iMac and FCPx won’t work for me.
My thread is about moving from an all Mac/OSX to Windows environment and all the variables. Stay on topic much?

Nevermind. You need to ad an alpha in photoshop.

“There is a good tutorial here on creating transitions with Boris Red (Avid FX).”
Would you mind linking us to that tutorial?

February 2, 2012 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Advanced Media Composer BCC/Sapphire/Avid Effects training?Hey Chris!
No, I haven’t found an all in one course. Someone should really write a book or make some videos on the subject. You can do a lot with BCC and Marquee, it’s convoluted but powerful and it can all be done with in the Avid.
Lately I’ve just been watching random tutorials and tinkering with effects and Marquee. I’ve taught my self several things through just trial and error. It’d be nice to just have a book on the subject though.

I’m actually kind of looking forward not jumping back and forth between the two systems. FCP is great, but Avid is no slouch. Hey man, we’re getting paid to craft stories… Life is good no matter what we’re cutting on. Now I just need to brush up on the Avid effects editor in the case I have to take a GFX heavy clip show job this year. Nesting is my friend, nesting is my friend, nesting is my friend.
