Sounds like interlacing. Something is awry somewhere. Are you seeing it in the canvas window at 100% mag? Or do you have an external monitor. If this is DV, use your deck and monitor to see the image on a proper monitor.
Try deinterlacing your footage and see if that makes a difference.
But really, until you tell us more – format, your system, where it’s going to end up – we can’t offer much more help

Dunno if it will help, but as I’ve been looking round my MacPro, I noticed an app called Comic Life. It lets you easily make comics – speech bubbles and all – so you may be able to use it to get a template for a graphic. I think it uses pics from iPhoto, but you could substitue blue for all frames and use it to chroma key video in.
There’s also a neat (and free) plug-in for a comic look (along with some others)

Gotta chime in here. I’d not risk 4tb of media on daisy chained drives. I think you’re asking for trouble – it’s the sort of situation where you may be fine for 99% of the time, but the 1% will be where it screws up, and it’s more likely to be at the end rather than the beginning. I’d go for a RAID 5 if you can pony up for it.
Also – backup RELIGIOUSLY!! Do NOT leave a big project to chance. I’ve a 2 gig USB stick, and I usually copy the project on to a separate drive as well. It takes a few minutes, but it’s real easy to forget at the end of the day and think ‘Naah, it’ll be OK.’ That’s the night when the boot disk pixies come along and **** in your hard drive.
Oh, and be real anal, I’m talking near OCD levels, about logging and digitising. Oversee it all if you can, make sure no TC breaks occur, or if they do they’re clearly labelled on clip and tape – and try to avoid the ‘take a whole tape and subclip’ approach. Honestly – even if it extends the logging time by a week, you’ll reap the benefits later. You won’t realise this at the time, but you will look back and think ‘that wasn’t so bad…’

Some years ago a friend of mine published a very odd and weighty tome cale Two Thirds. A mutual friend came up with the ‘Two Thirds weightlifing kit’ as a solution to what to do with all the copies people might have lying around.
So with this in mind, I’d suggest a large wood drill bit and a length of broom handle. A judiciously placed hole in each manual and voila! Instant edit suite fitness – as soon as the render bar starts, begin reps. Admittedly octo users will, inevitably, be less fit than those soldiering on with G4s – but hey, that’s good for all slower Mac users. They’ll be really buff by the end of a year and Mac envy will be mitigated somewhat by their six-packs.

Thanks Jerry, that’s exactly what I ended up doing – though if i get any funkiness then I’ll take out the 2 512s and wait on getting another pair of 2gigs.
Have to say though, I love the MP – such a well designed machine. Sooo easy to set up!
Just waiting on software update to finish then I’m on to installing FCS2…

Put Gaussian Blur on both. Set to 0. Using keyframes, ramp up on outgoing and down on incoming- make sure keyframes for max blur are at least half the duration of your dissolve outside your clip. Apply dissolve. Bake in a warm oven for 20 mins at gas mark 5*

I normally check with a waveform monitor, it’s a faff but you know for sure – but I’ve not had one rejected using this plug-in. I usually give it one more line for luck.
Don’t forget also – your broadcaster may have required timings for a word count. In the UK they’re sticklers for this, I once had an ad rejected by BACS (the UK advertising compliance people) because a 5 frame fade was at the beginning of a caption, making the caption 5 frames too short in their eyes. Good job I had an understanding client.

Uh-oh…
Mortimer, have you checked the TC on clip witht the TC on tape? Are they identical?
The fact that the first clip captures but subsequent clips don’t, instantly makes me think of TC breaks in the source that have been digitised over without creating new clips… I hope it isn’t the case though.
Check an obvious shot in your footage against the tape equivalent. Let us know.
