You can also use the Y out connector on your Decklink to feed sync to the deck. You have to open the OSX system settings/blackmagic panel, and set it to output black out the Y connector.

Maybe look for a good used DVCPro50 VTR? Much better quality than the BetaSP.

Thanks Bob. Maybe that is why you can get them used so inexpensively. Actually I’m mainly looking for something for SD. I thought that this thing might be ok for SD but still be workable once we upgrade to the HD. I notice that Sony doesn’t even seem to make any non LCD models any more!

In terms of workflow I gather you are dedicating a specific station to do the captioning. How long does it take to do one show? How long does the render take?
