Sorry read too fast. That is strange. If anything you throw in there gets jammed then perhaps it’s the software?? Have you tried a reinstall of compressor? Anyhow good luck. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

The biggest problem is that it does not handle speed changes correctly when consolidating. You’ll find lots of posts to that effect if you put down your nintendo and do a search. Thanks for your comment. Now go back to bed.

I wonder if they finally fixed media manager? I’d buy it just for that and never mind the other stuff.

We shot DVCPro HD. My query was if there is any way to get that in as Prores.

The AVC intra question was a separate thought… I should have been clearer 🙂 .

Actually since final cut and motion have to run at the same time maybe more than 4 gigs would be helpful.. If you run Activity Monitor when you are trying to do this render how much free memory does is say you have available?

Sounds to me like you are running out of memory. Try bringing just the one sequence in to a new project and open it fresh with no other project running, then render and see what happens. I assume you have ample memory in your system… (more then 4 gigs does not help though.)

    Good luck.

One thing to remember is that just because your system has free memory does not mean that FCP is not running out of memory – there is a limit to how much it can use regardless of how many gigs you have installed. (2 gigs is it?)

It’s important to make sure that your projects stay small. Everything in your project takes space – don’t have anything in there that you don’t need. If you have a lot of old versions of your sequences keep them in a secondary project. If there is stuff like stock shots or stock music that you can get right from the finder don’t keep it in the project.

It does sound like your drives are too slow… but that doesn’t explain the out of memory problem.. your projects may be bloated too.. keep them slim if you can.
