I’ve searched this forum for weeks on and off and cannot find a solution to the exact problem I’m having. First off I’m working on a G5 2.5 Quad core. I’ve been trying to process a file through compressor. Everything works fine until I check the Batch Monitor for the status on the file which shows me that it’s hung up in the processing mode. It displays an elapsed time that will count on endlessly, but nothing is being processed.

I’ve tried everything from deleting preferences and other related folders and reinstalling, to resetting BG processes, to deleting the /var/spool/qmaster/ folder but nothing seems to enable the file to actually process.

As a work around I’ve had to export the file from FCSP as a self contained QT file, and then export out again through QT. That’s all fine and dandy for the short term, but I still need Compressor to work regardless.

A final note…Compressor had been working fine before I upgraded the computer I’m working on from 10.4 to 10.5.8. I can’t tell how much this is related, but that’s the only significant change I’ve made.

Thanks in advance and I hope someone here is familiar with this issue.

Hi Jason. Thanks for your reply. If you read my post again you’ll see that I’ve already tried the solution for opening the qmaster folder, trashing, then deleting it. Regardless, I did it again following the exact directions in the link, but no luck.

It might be important to mention that I have no problem stopping and deleting the job in the queue. Once done, I can see that no jobs appear to be queued anymore. Despite that, every time I submit a job I still have the same problem. It’s showing an elapsed time, but nothing is processing.

Sorry read too fast. That is strange. If anything you throw in there gets jammed then perhaps it’s the software?? Have you tried a reinstall of compressor? Anyhow good luck. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

I did try reinstalling both with the install disks as well as peripheral software like Pacifist and Compressor Repair. I’ve read a few posts that suggest this happens when upgrading from Tiger to Leopard and believe this could ultimately be the issue. I don’t want to unassemble my entire system to find out though.

For those who may be looking for similar solutions, this link might be helpful.
