I’d love to see more development of full control surface type of apps for FCP, Soundtrack Pro and Motion.”In my daydreams I see Apple coming out with a touch-screen that replaces the graphics tablet, mouse and keyboard. I would love to be able to control everything on one surface with just my fingers. Sometimes when I sit down at my Wacom tablet, I unconsciously start sliding my finger on it… then I remember the stylus.

I like it! It is my first DSLR-type camera. I really like the touch-screen controls. Being able to tap and zoom in to check focus and interactively tweak the white balance are two really cool features. The 1080-24p video is stunning, but suffers from pretty bad skew/jello when going hand-held. However, this being my first experience with a DSLR-type camera, video-wise, I really don’t have much to compare it to other than my HVX that I’ve been shooting with for years. I really can’t say if the video is any better or worse than any other DSLR-type camera.

I managed to snag mine from a Canadian camera store just across the border. The three they were getting were sold before they reached the store!

Sweet! I know I want one. I just got my GH2 w/14-400mm lens on Friday. The cool thing is that everything (lenses, memory cards) I get for this camera will work for the AF100 too.

I’ll jump in here and add my story. I was contacted recently for a bid on producing eight 15 second TV ads. No actors needed, but shooting some live elements, stock footage and a fair amount of animation. Turn-around: 4 weeks. Delivery for broadcast and web. I put in a bid of $20k. After a week of no response, I emailed. Their response, “Since we are a public agency, we had to take the lowest bid.” I asked what the other bids were. $15,000 and $12,725. My rates used to be considered very middle-of-the-road. I really can’t complain, though. The last couple of months have been very good, work-wise. It would have been fun to finish off the year with a $20k project though… At least I can hold my head high because I took a stand for decent rates!

Does anybody know anyone who regularly uses Avid MXF files in a FCP system imported and converted via mxf4mac or Calibrated{Q} MXF Import?
I’m curious how feasible and reliable it might be.”I’m not using Avid MXF’s, but I’m editing P2 MXF’s in FCP. I like Calibrated because the price is right and it just adds MXF compatibility to Quicktime –no messing with proxies. Clean and simple; just drop your MXF’s into FCP and edit.
