That’s interesting, Robin. I’ve seen them run with 3 daylights and one tungsten, with the camera on daylight.

If it is PowerPoint for Windows, then a Windows Media Video file is the only way to go.

I’ve been editing GH2 footage on FCPX for about 5 months now. I haven’t used any high bitrate footage because the native 25mb 1080p looks darn good.

Like Rafael said, there is no reason to use Clipwrap. I just let X rewrap the files. I don’t bother with Prores.

It’s not the bitrate you need to worry about, it’s the compression. I’m using a 2011 Macbook Pro with 16GB of RAM and that is working well for me. I’m also using an external eSATA media drive. Grab the trial version of X and do some testing to see how it runs on your machine.

Very confusing. What is happening under the hood?!”
When the Spatial Conform is set to “None”, a scale setting of 100% represents all of the 1920×1080 resolution and scaling to 2/3’s of that (66.7%) will fit it into the 1280×720 frame. With the Spatial Conform set to “Fit”, a scale setting of 100% represents 2/3’s of the 1920×1080 resolution and scaling up to 150% represents all of the 1920×1080 resolution.

There is an interoperability issue with MacOS using graphics (GPU) cards externally through Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, external graphics solutions for MacOS X do not work and we do not expect a resolution from Apple in the short term. We realize that external graphics support is a feature that many users want so we’ll let you know if this changes. For the time being our recommendation may be to run Windows using Boot Camp, but this is not yet confirmed as a working solution.”

[Jason Jenkins] “If you set the Spatial Conform to “None”, then the clips will show up in the timeline at 100% scale and will appear cropped. To see the entire image, you’ll set the scale to 66.7%. Scaling anywhere between 66.7% and 100% is possible with no resampling.
If you leave the Spatial Conform setting to it’s default of “Fit”, the clips will show up in the timeline at 100% scale but will in fact be scaled down to fit the entire image in the frame. In this scenario, you can scale your video up to 133.3% to achieve the same view that you had at 100% in the “None” scenario. Scaling anywhere between 100% and 133.3% is possible with no resampling.
So, the same thing is happening behind the scenes in either scenario. The only difference is what the Scale parameter says in the inspector.”
Correction: When editing 1080p in a 720p timeline where the footage is set to the Spatial Conform setting “Fit”, the footage actually needs to be scaled to 150% (not 133.3%) in the timeline to be sized up all the way and see its full resolution. My math was wrong in the previous post. In the Spatial Conform “None” scenario, a scale setting of 100% represents all of the 1920×1080 resolution and scaling to 2/3’s of that (66.7%) will fit it into the 1280×720 frame. I’m using the JuicedLink DT454 XLR box. It has very clean preamps and I’m running the output right into my GH2. I’m really happy with this system.

My advice is; don’t even worry about the hack at this point. Get the camera and play with it, read the manual, do some test shooting, test editing, etc. I’m not sure what you plan on shooting, but you may not even need a higher bit-rate. I make good money shooting with my GH2 at the standard 1080p 25mbit setting. It looks great! I haven’t seen a need to do the hack.
