FWIW, I’ve been using a Pegasus R6 for a few weeks now and other than the initial build of the RAID 5 which took an annoying 24 hours, it’s been working great with my 2011 Macbook Pro.

I’ve noticed that the Osram bulbs I’ve got turn on immediately at full brightness, but the Kino bulbs take several minutes to reach that state.

The first place I would start for better performance is to get an external media drive, even if it is just firewire 800. Other World Computing also has optical drive replacement kits for adding a second internal hard drive to your Macbook Pro. You really don’t want to edit off the system drive.

I just picked up the Switronix TorchLED Bolt, which is very similar to the blender. It was $300 at B&H (assembled in the USA of foreign and domestic parts). I’m pretty happy with it so far. It puts out a lot of light for such a small fixture. The ability to blend the color temps is very nice. It will be primarily a back/rim light for interview shoots. It will be replacing an older, larger LED fixture I’ve been using for 3 or 4 years.

I also just upgraded my 2011 Macbook Pro to 16GB of RAM from OWC. It definitely helps when running multiple applications at once.

This seems crazy to me as that puts me in the 3.4kg bracket of tripod 🙁

I’m more concerned with the POV of the camera when I shoot. This looks like a good hiking tripod. Don’t forget the head 😉
