Your gfx elements need to be in separate “groups”. Remember, groups and layers are different. Bottom group is your 2D background, top group(s) are your 3D elements. You need to designate the groups as 2D or 3D by checking the column in your Layers tab that says “Status”, or in the Inspector’s contextual “Group” tab where it says “Type” (why its status in one tab and type in another makes no sense, but that’s what it is).

Put the background in its own 2D group. The other groups can be 3D and it won’t effect the 2D background.

Peter was right on recommending the Corona emitter. I think the key is replacing the Shape=circle to Shape=Geometry… then treat your logo as a shape (or shapes) instead of text. Your shapes can be invisible, so you may just trace around your text… and conform your emitter to take on the shape.

This may be a linking issue, since you said the problem lies with only certain clips. My guess is that your video & audio is linked on certain clips, and that you are getting clip collision. If you select+drag up to higher tracks (v3, v4 +) you may be able to move the clips. Make sure no tracks are locked either.
Also, you may have better luck using Shift+Z (Fit to Window) instead of zooming way out.

Buy the Director’s Label DVDs (Michel Gondry, Chris Cunningham, et al) for inspiration.

Maybe the Snow Leopard feature Grand Central Dispatch will address this… was just briefly reading about this.

Are you using Spaces? I lose windows occasionally too, especially when I Apple+Tab a lot, but it’s ’cause I have Spaces activated. I think the windows are gone, but they’re not, they just moved to one of the other desktop spaces… strange. So, I save my Window Layouts so I can reset… curious if anyone else has this happen to them w/ Spaces activated??

Search the forum for Pleasantville effect. Plenty of tutorials out there, even on YouTube. Discover the “limit effect” tool in your 3-way color corrector, or learn Color.
