We have clients using DV to uncompressed HD. Mostly the work is done in 8/10 bit Uncompressed. Few are looking forward to ProRes to replace/add to DVCProHD workflow. Kano says that they have similar chips on their boards as Caldigit. Dulce, I have not idea. First time seeing/hearing about them.
    Thx

    Thanks Guys!
Hmmm.. That is understood but previous 5.1.1 played the Log/Capture video a lot smoother than this one. Same Hardware!
    Thought I ask anyways

    Forgot to mention;
The new firmware is in place, running Medea Fibre as Media Capture and all slot order for Kona3 seems to be correct (as per AJA). 5.1.1 was flawless after the Kona 3.1 update. Just noticed after the 5.1.2
    Thanks

We had few CGM and couple Eureka plugins.
or are they originally scripted to work in both?

September 14, 2006 at 12:32 am in reply to: Does MAC PRO (Universal) work with these FCP Plugins?

I just loaded the FCP 5.1.1. on Mac Pro and thought I give our old PPC Plugins a shot. After dumping the PPC FCP Plugins to the folder, I started FCP. To my surprise, they are all there and working!!!

I did NOT load Final Cut in Rosetta (Get Info/Open in Rosetta) yet they still show up and all working! I wonder if the system kicked FCP in Rosetta automatically or is it running in Intel Mode? And whether or not using them will slow FCP down compare to not having them installed.

Anyone else tried or experienced this?

    Thanks

    Bob,

Thanks but then I guess why would someone want to invest in a Quad right now if you think that most companies won’t be releasing PPC versions of their apps anymore? Given that you need the machine now but let’s say that you wait another 6 weeks for the Intel Pro and you’re waiting again until next summer until Adobe comes out with CS3/AE stuff. Now, if Adobe releases only the Intel version that Quad G5 today would be locked to whatever you have… as you pointed out with other examples…

So one is stuck either way and just got to pick I guess.

I (hope) that Adobe, Apple and ‘others’ still keep the PPC development for atleast couple more versions.

    Wow! What a thread!
My dual 2 has got a George Foreman in Slot A and it sure renders those burgers really fast but darn thing is really hard to clean. I am hoping to get the ‘self cleaning’ version in the Quad soon!

On a serious note, I was also wondering, do you think that most of the companies will release both PPC and Intel versions of the apps for at least next 3-4 years or am i way off?
    Thanks

    Hi George

I believe Kona LHe starting shipping last week. Not sure what area you’re in but check B&H or Promax online or check AJA’s online dealer directory to find one closest to you:

November 2, 2005 at 11:55 pm in reply to: up converting with a Kona LH

    Gary-
Thanks for the clarification. You always learn from here. But what I meant by true format was that 1920×1080 is prob. the most commonly used format in both theory and practical world. Hence most people refer to HD’s frame rate to a maximum of this one. Am I correct? You most definitely have a lot more HD experience than I do and I love learning new stuff from fellows like yourself.

As for the 720>1080, how does 1280×720 on the JVC and 1440 on the Sony “cross convert” to 1920×1080. Isn’t that upconvert. I am definitely missing something here. Could you please clarify or point me to any papers/docs on this.
