Is the RS-422 working and handshaking as expected? Like Pat, I’m interested in controlling the Hyperdeck with a JL Cooper controller. I actually want to use a Gangway16 and run two or more Hyperdecks simultaneously via RS-422 control. Does anyone know if this will NOT work? Thanks!

If you’re using Avid Xpress Pro or above, check out the Reformat section in the Effect Palette. Otherwise you’ll have to bring everything into AE and create a 720×480 widescreen (1.2 PAR) composition the length of your footage and then nest that in a 720×480 comp with a 0.9 PAR. Once nested you could add your effects.

Thanks, Steve. That info will help me justify the upgrade. I wrote my boss today about upgrading to Pro for the enhanced 3D abilities, and now I have even more ammunition. I had heard that they weren’t bundling Classic anymore with the full versions of AE7. I wonder if it was because 4.0 wasn’t ready or if the agreement between Zax and Adobe was up.

    Steve,

Have you heard anything? I got the same error in AE7. Their phone is busy.

You’re probably tired of answering this, Marianna, but do you have an estimate for release of HDV on Adrenaline? And will it require the HD expansion board?

Have you tried deleting your database files on your media drives? Look for msmFMID.pmr and msmMMOB.mdb on each stripe.
Although it sounds like you have a compatability problem, or maybe one of your RAM sticks isn’t seated properly. Have you tried downgrading to a less-newer version of Adrenaline? I think 2.1.8 JUST came out. I’m using 1.6, although there are more stable versions out there I believe.

Also, when you launch Avid, you’ll have to create your project at 1080i/59.94 for NTSC, 1080i/50 for PAL. When outputing HDV back to tape, Avid actually makes a file and then copies that to your tape. It’s a little different than your typical digital cut, but has the same effect.
