Im gonna be doing a project starting later this month using an Avid Xpress Pro HD and the camera will be a Sony HVR-Z1U. I was wondering if Ill be able to input this material 60i using firewire or will I need a deck? This will be my first HD project and I just wanna get as far ahead as I can. Thanks for any input

Should be able to input directly. Just make sure the setting on the camera is set to HDV, rather than downconvert to dv, I loaded some material from one of these cameras, and had trouble until I found that in camera setting.

    Best,

Also, when you launch Avid, you’ll have to create your project at 1080i/59.94 for NTSC, 1080i/50 for PAL. When outputing HDV back to tape, Avid actually makes a file and then copies that to your tape. It’s a little different than your typical digital cut, but has the same effect.
