thanks for the help josh- since i won’t be burning it to a blu ray for the client, i suppose it is just a SD finished DVD… so, i will just make the HD match SD… another way of doing this is to start the SD timeline, then pull in the HD footage and when it ask me to change preferences just say no- is that correct?

so in that case am i resizing the SD footage to extend out to match the HD footage or am i shrinking the HD footage to match the size of the SD footage? if I stretch the SD will it look pixelated?

I started a project and put my HD footage in the timeline first, then I captured some of my SD footage and drug it into the timeline… of course it was smaller and the sides of the HD footage were playing behind it and able to be seen… So, should I start over and do the SD clips first and then decline the choice to change the preferences when I add the HD footage? Is that the best option?

I found another post where a user got blasted for not searching forums/manuals before asking this same question. I did a quick search online (because campus does not have the manuals lying out for our use) and it seems that most people suggest using Compressor… is this right?
I guess I need to know the order of operation. I am capturing the SD tapes right now. Should I go ahead and finish capturing, and then build my timeline with both HD and SD in the same timeline, then export that to Compressor? Is that the right plan for this? It is about 8 hours of SD footage to be edited down to about 2 hours…
thanks guys and hope I am not annoying anyone too bad

so i was going to go buy one tomorrow and found this one online and hoping they have it in stock at the store, otherwise i won’t have time to get one in before the shoot… it is this one:
    https://www.guitarcenter.com/Radial-TWIN-ISO-Passive-Line-Level-Isolator-153921-i1124784.gc

but my question is still about 1/4 jacks… i suppose i would still need to buy 1/4 to xlr adapters in the event that the board cannot take the xlr input???
