    hey guys,
finally got in touch with the sound guy and here is what he said… could someone tell me what i need to buy (and again i apologize for my lack of knowledge)… here is his email:
“I think that the sound board they connect probably has 1/4″ outs, which would need an adapter from 1/4″ to XLR, if that’s what they need.”
So I will bring XLRs for sure in hopes that he is wrong with his guess, but if he is right what should I go buy between now and then (then means Saturday)…
    thanks so much

thanks for the help… just a few more questions for you:
    1. first of all, is an xlr the only cable i will need for this?
    2. how will i know if it is a mic or line level output from the board?
There actually won’t be a rehearsal, of course! So, if i can go in as prepared as possible that would be outstanding!!!
    once again,
    I appreciate it so much

just in case anyone else has the same questions, i was able to find this review online that was beneficial to me… looks like the 200 and therefore i assume the 250 give you the ability to add anton batteries and more importantly, the ability to shoot in 60p… here is that link:

February 10, 2009 at 7:29 am in reply to: Output Image too Small

i was able to find another cow thread on this matter. the one i found was not exactly my scenario because he was shooting in standard def and i am shooting in HD, but fact of the matter is, i am using my ps3 to view these and that is giving me the pillarboxes… i read in that other thread that blu ray players will do this… is that the case even when it was shot in HD? i mean, i did not burn it onto blu ray (can’t afford that yet) so I guess just bc it was shot in HD i am still outputting it in SD huh?

sure enough! that was it, man, sorry such a lame question! glad it was that simple though. now, i just got to see if i can get it small enough to throw some widescreen letterbox on there to make it match the rest of the project…
    thanks so much

do you have access to soundtrack pro? there are some sweet filters in there that should be able to help you out!

this will quickly get above my head, let me try my best and my lack of knowledge is going to probably lead me to a big fat wall of confusion:
i shot interviews in 720p on a Firestore. That is the footage that is making up most of my timeline. Then the news footage is 4:3 standard def. I simply opened MPEG streamclip and did export to quicktime, and in the compression dropdown box I chose apple prores 422 (the first of the two prores 422 choices).
does this answer the question at all?

i am sure i will get to this when i do the media manager chapters in the fcp book but when you use media manager doesn’t it do away with anything not being used in the timeline? if that is true, i am jsut nervous to use it and then have to come back to it later and not have everything still captured…
