just realized my TB external is set up as FAT32… i wonder if the 4GB file size limit is causing the error? anyone?

so just to make sure i understand… you are saying that if i ditch all my render files and toss that entire folder in the trash i can still come back later and everything will open fine, nothing will have to be “reconnected” but i will have to re-render the timeline just to get it back up to snuff to work on… that sound right?

indeed, it will be just DVD, not blu ray…
am i understanding that the easiest way to do that is to have the SD footage on the timeline and then drag the HD footage in place on the same timeline and then when FCP ask if i want to change settings for best quality just simply say no… by doing all that will the HD footage and SD footage be the same and view the same on a TV or will the SD still be 4:3 and the HD 16:9????
that is the main problem right now… when i play back my dvd (though it looks fine in FCP) on a TV the HD footage takes up the entire screen but the SD footage does an extremely small box (bc it is on a PS3)

is there any other thing i should check before doing that… i hate to erase the external drive’s contents and then find out that was not the problem… better yet, is there a way to verify if it is fat32 while it is plugged into my macbook?

well i am not 100%… i suppose it might be FAT32 but it is showing up on my mac desktop as the yellow icon… i have other things on there so i hate to reformat it but if that is the last ditch effort then so be it
