Since AE isn’t 64bit it will run in 32bit-mode and 3rd party plugins are working fine. Boujou runs on XP64 also, but will run in 32bit-mode.
    Cinema 4d has a 32bit and 64bit version.
If you run C4d in 64bit you’ll have to check that your 3rd-party plugins have 64bit versions or they will only work in the 32bit version.
    About Quicktime;
In C4d64bit you have no option to choose Quicktime as render-output or texture, only image sequences and avi.
I got used in working with Image sequences now.

    or

    if you use multiple machines;
-Run the 32bit Net Render Server
-Run the Net Render Clients in 64bit

this way you can render to Quicktime but keep the Render Clients in 64bit.
In my experience 64bit rendering gives about 15% speed-increase.
If you have a few thousand frames to render… it’s worth the hassle !

I’ve been using XP64 for a few years now.

    Con
    – Quicktime acts funny (doesn’t work in C4D 64bit)
    – USB and Firewire can hang your system
    – Old hardware doesn’t work (printers…)

    Pro’s
+++You can use lots of Ram
    +Cinema 4d works in 64 bit

Using XP64 or Vista64 you’ll have access to all 4 GB but,
once you’ve worked on a machine with 8 or 16 GB of Ram, you’ll never want to go back. So get a t least another 4 GB.

For now I’m staying with XP64sp2 cause it flies on a 3GHz quad.

  • If you have one comp ready,
Duplucate the comp, select the layers and drag your new media on it while holding the ALT key,
that will replace the used media.

or you can use the keyframe assistant > Sequence layers

    think that should help

    indeed,
AJA and Blackmagic cards can’t preview Full-HD at 25 of 29.97 fps.
Tested them both and confirmed by Blackmagic (didn’t call AJA)

weird ! my 4year old Parhelia does the job !

After Effects is strangly ignored when it comes to HD

That’s because AE only does a good deïnterlace when in full quality mode, when you scrub or use the dynamic resolution it only does a rough job and mixes the two fields.
The flash will probably be in the field that AE drops.
If you want to see the flash in Full Quality you’ll have to change your File Interpretion to lower field first. (only if you use it for a still, otherwise your motion will be wrong)

Let’s say you have a Comp with 4 uncompressed QT’s and you render to an uncompressed QT, and you render with Multiprocessing enabled. (8cores = 16 GB Ram advised)
If you’re using a single disk… the bottleneck of your system will be the harddrive !! There’s to much data that needs to be fed to the processors so your 8 processors will only use about 20% of their power.

    The cheapest solution:
use internal drives, 1 for the OS and 3 for Raid0
otherwise check the adverts on this page for external solutions.

There is a noticable difference, 1.6GHz (8*0.2) to be exact.
But working in AE, a 3.0GHz Octocore with 16GB Ram and 3disk Raid0 will surely beat a 3.2GHz 4 GB Ram and single disk setup.

that would indeed be a very usefull shortcut,
for now, I use “U” for keyframes and then “SHIFT+EE” to hide the expressions,
maybe you can make a “macro” on your OS !?

Selecting the layer and pressing CTRL-ALT-B replaces the I,B,O,N routine.
    or check: https://www.aenhancers.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=render+composition
