I stopped my interval recording just like you did by shutting off the camera. As you know, when you are in interval recording, the camcorder does not appear to respond to commands.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some insight into this mode of shooting.

Thank you for asking this question. As a new owner of a Panasonic DVX-100A, I have been wondering the same thing. I look forward to seeing the answers.

Thank you for getting back to me. What do you mean by “shoot with the monitor”. Are you referring to the viewfinder?

There are several places you can buy discs. A lot of people, including me, use several souces. This is one that I use quite often.
I am sure others will chime in with their favorites.

Thank you for such a quick response. I found out by accident that I needed to open the LCD to hear the audio if I was not wearing headphones. I did not even think of that since my Digital 8 plays loud audio with the LCD closed. As I am sure I do not have to tell you, with the LCD closed on the Panasonic, I could hardly hear the audio at all. I can tell I have to learn some new techniques.
I feel much better after reading your explanation about the headphones. Again, on the Sony, I had clean sound so I was getting worried as to how I was going to make sure the sound was clean that was being recorded if I could not hear it cleanly through the headphones. I am using Etymotic ER-6 headphones. Now that I understand it is a design thing and not really being recorded onto the tape, I feel a lot better. I hope to pick up a copy of your book before long. It sounds like it provides a wealth of information.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Thank you for the great info. I shot a 2 hour presentation using a HP AMD laptop, DV Rack and a USB 2.0 connection to an external self-powered Hitachi 5400 40 gig hard drive. This setup worked great – not a single dropped frame and I could edit directly on the hard drive. I was pretty impressed. I did buy an external 3 port firewire PCMIA card but have not tried to use it yet.
It was good to learn about the N-Charge external batteries. I have never heard of them and face the same problem as you with short battery life. I’m glad to hear there is an option other than buying another laptop battery.
Again, thank you for the information and links.

May 11, 2005 at 3:04 am in reply to: Looking for recommendation on external Hard DrivesI have been very happy with my USB 2.0 Western Digital external drives, especially my 200 gig one with 8 megs of RAM. In two years of heavy use, it has never missed a beat. I did have problems with Maxtors when I put them in ADS Drive enclosures. I also had a Maxtor fail on my main computer.
Hope this helps.

One thought would be to buy Vegas 5 and get the free upgrade to Vegas 6, that way you can have both.
