February 4, 2011 at 9:49 pm in reply to: Best ProRes codec for ingest Panasonic AF-101 materialIf it is only going to be AVCHD on the timeline, LT works fine. It is still 4:2:2. But if you have other codec that will be there or you are really going to shove things around, then HQ, would be better.

You could also contact Panasonic Service in the NJ office. They may charge you but I have seen them pull back a formatted cards previous recording. Email off line and I will give you the contact.

Hi,
There is no built in zoom control for the AF100. The only way to put a motorized zoom onto this camera is to do it as if it were a film camera and use a Micro-Force Zoom Controller. There are PL lenses that are Zooms but they are fairly expensive. None of the Lumix lenses are what we would call zooms, as they are really Variable Focal Length lenses. They do not hold focus during a zoom.
Hope this helps,
Jan

Hi,
I am assuming that you are talking about the AG-3DA1 and if so you can use any number of plug-ins with FCP. The least expensive is the Stereo Tool Box from Tim Dashwood. If you have the money the more expensive version is worth it. Next would be the Cineform 3D Neo. Definitely more money but also very cool stuff.
If you are talking about the new consumer camera, I think there is edit software in the box, but just know that is not going to give you full resolution HD 3D.
Hope this helps,
Jan

January 22, 2011 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Panasonic AG-AF100 for broadcast cameras with panasonic av-hs400a switcher?Hi,
The output from either camera can be SD or HD and will be glitch free. But if you are needing to have the cameras also record in SD, the HPX170 is the only one that will do that.
Hest,

Hi,
I do not believe the factory printed Volume 2, only 1 and put 2 on the CD.

Hi Stuart,
Volume 2 of the Manual is on the CD that is in the box. Also look for the coupon that you can send in for a copy of Barry Green’s AF100 book. This is an offer exclusive to US product only.
Best regards,
Jan

The AF100 will be shipping in December. As far as Panasonic not having enough to meet initial demand I think that is true of virtually any manufacturer that brings a new camera to the market. At least that is what I have seen over the last 20 years or so.
Hope that helps

Hi,
I do not believe you can write to that slot from the computer but I have never tried it. The process goes like this. Download using your Mac the Zipped files from the update site. The unzip those files to the formatted SD card. Insert the SD card into the camera in question and use the operation menu to get to the Update choice.
Hope that helps,
Jan
