Be aware that the HMC cameras are 6Hz or 50Hz so make sure you buy one that is intended for your country of origin. Additionally the extended warranty is in the country of origin. So you want to have your support in your country.

Plug the camera in and leave it overnight. The battery should charge.

Hey Noah,

the only reason there might be a lesser quality image on the NX5 that the EX1 is the difference between the imagers. One is 2M and the other is 1M. AVCHD has been proven to perform at 24Mbs as good and when stressed better than MPEG2 up to 35Mbs. Haven’t seen the 422 50Mbs, but because of the initial digitization, the MPEG2 is always breaking it down to the 8 X * blocks, and thus when stressed the macroblocks show up much more easily on MPEG2. Barry Green did a test on this a couple months ago and posted it.

Time code is not the same as gen-lock. Genlock refers to the picture being scan at the very same time. Time-code will be close and in the neigborhood, but it doesn’t look at the video timing. I just puts the time on the frame being drawn.

Actually the HD-SDI is an uncompressed output. Send it to any compression scheme you wish.

Actually Noah, the $1000 deposit is a hope to bring a semblance of order to the first deliveries. Don’t know if you were in line when the HVX200 hit, but that was really chaos, but I think you were there. I think the little 3D camera is going to be speaking to a lot of customers for a number of different applications, not just films. And frankly I don’t think you could shoot Avatar with this camera, the inter-occular is not adjustable but convergence is. Although some parts of it you could.

It is the coolest thing I have played with in a while.

Once you have reloaded your camera, format the card in the camera. If you are experiencing the same results, contact Panasonic service, something is entirely amiss.

Hi,

Remote focus and iris are not possible on the DVX100A, it only showed up in the DVX100B. It is not LAN-C control. I don’t know of another inexpensive controller outside of Varizoom that is able to control these functions. I do know of others that cost more.
