I would concur with Noah on this, don’t go for the cheaper card go for the better Brand Name. I have seen failure primarily on the off-brands, and the tough part is with this type of memory and no memory manager like P2, the likelihood of recovery is nil. Yes the SDHC cards are cheaper than P2 but do yourself a favor and don’t buy the bargain brands.

Hi,

Before this gets crazy, this is not AVC Ultra. It does not have P2 Cards, but rather SDHC cards. No where in this marketing stuff does it identify what format it is. I am not saying what it is as I am not totally sure, but when I am clear, i will jump back in.

Hi,

First and foremost you are ingesting as the wrong codec. The HMC150 records in AVCHD. It may show up in FCP as either AVCCAM or AVCHD, but it should be there and it will import at the correct aspect ratio.

It will render it to ProRes and that is appropriate for editing.

Just try switching the codec it might be the root of all your issues.

Worst case scenario, go to https://www.panaosnic.com/AVCCAM and download the editing with FCP whitepaper. Does sort of a step by step.

This noise issue was addressed back in June or July with a firmware upgrade 9.28 which also gave the Flash Band Compensation. We are now at 9.30.

Hi,

The AG-HPG10 only has 1394 as an input and so it is looking for a compatible codec to come in on a compressed domain. This means that only the DV codec generated by the GH1 is compatible. However, since the AG-HPG20 has an HD-SDI in, it could be used to record into DVCPRO-HD or AVC-Intra fro the HD-SDI out put from the GH1.

You should contact the Panasonic service Center in NJ or LA, they might be able to help you retrieve you footage. You should always have the write protect switch on as the Apple will write stuff to the card as it unloads. This becomes problematic when you have a very full card.

If you are somewhere else in the world contact the Panasonic folks in your country.

But the HPG20 does not do this. Nice idea but there is no signal in the HD-SDI stream that would tell the machine to do this.

You set up the HPG20 to look at Type 1 commands, have a tape in the camcorder and it will roll both. I think you have to set a menu in the Varicam as well to control both the internal machine and the external machine.

As far as resolution goes, side by side with the EX1, there is no difference in the resolution, so if you thought the 300 didn’t have enough detail, neither will the EX1. (You didn’t identify the 1/3″ camera in the film out you did see but a 2.2 M pixel imager in 1/3 virtually equals the performance on the 1/2″ imager.)

The lens on the hpx300 is longer than that on the EX1 as well.

And Michael sacchi is right, the AVC-Intra codec in FCP is decoder only. You could rent an AG-HPG20 and record directly to AVC-Intra, or give the HPX300 a try, you might really be surprised.

On the HPX170 you can assign the frame rates to the user buttons, but not on the 300, apparently they ran out of room in the memory.
