Actually Joselyn the difference between the DVX cameras and the HVX is night and day, ie the size of the pixels and the size of the signal. You should compare the HVX with the other HD cameras below $10,000 and you will see what I mean.

It sounds as if you changed the file structure away from the CONTENTS folder. FCP needs to see that in order to recognize P2 clips.

Since I was there with the camera at Res Fest, the cameras that I am seeing coming off the production line look just like that one. The samples that we had around the sales floor at DV Expo, were also very close, some were noisier as they had less than ideal situations to be pointed at. Light is an important issue with this camera as it is with all of the small HD cameras. There is no problem with the current camera.

It has been my experience that people want 2/3″ performance off of this 1/3″ imager and that just is not possible. Laws of physics cannot be denied. This camera looks very good next to other cameras of its price range.

Hi,

There is not a defect in the camera. When we set up this camera we based its look on a very popular look from our DVX100 lineup. If you are coming from a background of another DV camera you may not be familiar with that very popular look of the DVX, which I can only express as an organic feel to it. You can go into the menus and reduce that look by either going to the Black Bress Gamma, putting in more coring and reducing the detail.

When you compare this cameras to other small HD cameras like the Canon and the JVC you will find that it compares favorably.

Are you running on the latest OS 10.4.3 and FCP 5.04? If not this message will always occur. Alos make sure that the timeline is set up the the format you are attempting to bring in.

This deck does not have a firewire option ans was discontinued sometime in 2002. It debuted in 97-98.

If you read the entire thread it is a joke. The manual even references this. There is nothing wrong with the camera. There is no recall. Just read your manual it is on page 122 under the heading “Before Calling for Service.”

So David,did you call David Craig and ask him about this situation? That was my point. Everyone wants to jump on Panaosnic Canada and say there is something wrong there without them saying anything. Why is it that they happen to be guilty without the right what is going on? I mean you have one side of the story but not two.

I have been in the situation myself where a customer called up and presented the situation and shortly after I had a dealer call me and describe the same situation differently.

Why not call David, since you know him and ask him what is going on?

Since I cannot say anything for sure about Canadian distribution but it sounds like you have really damned Panasonic, without even talking to them. As far as a demo camera, does that mean they would get one for free? to show for a couple of weeks and then send it back? Well that is pretty unlikely just as it would be here in the US. Email me off list for contact info in Canada and you can find out the real deal. It may be but from here it sounds like too much micro-managing to step over a small guys order.
