P2 Store is about as rock solid as you can get. Where there is a problem it is due to operator error. No one wants to admit that and so when it is turn back in at the rental house, it is always the equipment that malfunctioned.

For those that give due respect to the workflow and pay attention, the problems are not there.

He figured out how to make it work, so it can. It may not be for everyone but it can work.

Hi Ken,

The files that are in the Barry Green book do not look like the files that we had set up for the SDX900. Those were done by Mike Caporale, and so far Mike has not had to time to put together matching files for me.

My suggestion for you is to use the camera in a straight setting that will give you flexibility later. You can make some judgments about with Gamma, Color and detail to use, as long as you have an HD monitor. If not, stay vanilla.

The sample footage should be an MXF file for Aspect to see it not an mov file. IT should be a CONTENTS folder and then Aspect should be able to convert it to a PPRO file.

Hi Jeremy,

I think that the set up would be important for the capture/import. Capture should be set for 23.98, and if not the FCP would invent weird and TC.

I don’t have my Mac here and not sure I will have time to check it out before I leave town tommorrow. But I don’t recall seing what he is seeing on the PN stuff I was playing with.

Hi,

If you are shooting in 24PN, the camera is recording only 24 frame time code, I just looked. Take a look at how you set up the sequence, it needs to be set to DVCPRO HD 720P 23.98. If the capture is set to 60 and the sequence set to 23.98 you will find that it will have screws loose TC.

Hi,

On the undersde of the cassette, there are “locks” for the yellow lid. Release those and look at the tape. Does it look okay? It may be that the tape has snapped and there is not tape there. It will be apparent.

Second, if the tape is there, see if you can advance the cassette hubs. This will take two people. You don’t have enough fingers to keep the tape lid up and the tape lock open and advance the hubs. If it advances, move it forward to see if the hubs are locked for some reason, or the tape is jammed.

In all it sounds like you will need to repair the cassette, but I would not do this if you are not tuned into it. Call around to some of theduplication facilities, they may have had a problem in the past with a tape, but it is pretty rare. I mean I wouldn’t go there and I work for the company. Find someone who has done it before.

Already done refers to the fact that a modification has been made to cameras coming off of the assembly line today. They have beefed up the battery mount. To those that have a problem with a camera made before the modification on the assembly line, I understand that it is being handled as a warranty repair.

Hi Brian,

While I have not used the CitiDisk, form what I understand is that it only records a quickTime stream and thus the footage would only be available if you were working on FCP.
