I’ve been using a USB mic for VO. I know, I know it’s pitiful. I will purchase one of these mics mentioned. Do they just plug in thru mic or do they need an interface device. I tried my camera shotgun mic (Rode) on my laptop but did not get any sound at all. I need to improved my audio so any instruction would be very helpful. By the way i have a soundblaster external soundcard, would that work with these mics.

    OK Mike,
i just built a new machine with XP 64bit. I’ve got 6 gigs of ram on it and its running Vegas 7 sweet. I wanted to stay away from Vista for a while. I hope it will work or i’ve got decisions to make. I really want to work with that new titlier.

    OK Gray,
Just needed to know if it could be done as to avoid re authoring the DVD. Will there be much quality lose re compressing the vobs back to meg2 and if so is there a tried and true method to keep it to a minimum.

Yes Gary i do that but i have a madhatter style of editing i guess. Vegas allows so much freedom I tend to move something i dont want to move or stick a clip on a track with an FX only to find out later after rendering that i screw up. Just trying to protect me from me i guess. Finishing a section and droping the veggie into a new veggie for the next section resolves the clutter. I do hope Excalibur or Vegas will put in a lock track function though.

    Thanks guys
This information is good and very helpful. To explain a bit i render to DV to save a copy for editing (as a DV is easier to edit later for the inevitable changes) the i render an mpeg from the timeline for dvd. I do this to avoid keeping my harddirves loaded donw with the veggie files. I am guilty of rendering small segment avi’s and builing them over time to a larger project. As you all explained thats probably where i’m getting degradation.
I know this is another topic sorta, but is it my imagination that the vegas text is not as crisp as some other editors? Is there a special way you guys handle text.
