    Another question gentleman,

I’ve searched the archives to find that there is no way to lock a track in Vegas. I found that this may be added to Excalibur in the future. I do own Excalibur. I’m in the mist of a very important project with a ton of layers. I really would prefer to Hide some layers. I know I can drop the completed segment veggie into a new veggie but was wondering if their were scripts available or some method of hiding the layers all together .

You can minimize the vertical size of tracks with the button on the upper left of the track header (or you can drag the size). Does that help?

I think he wants to protect the tracks from changes.

Yes Gary i do that but i have a madhatter style of editing i guess. Vegas allows so much freedom I tend to move something i dont want to move or stick a clip on a track with an FX only to find out later after rendering that i screw up. Just trying to protect me from me i guess. Finishing a section and droping the veggie into a new veggie for the next section resolves the clutter. I do hope Excalibur or Vegas will put in a lock track function though.

    1) Use Selection Editing Tool. Make election along the desired portion or the whole length of the track/tracks you want to lock then right click and select ‘Switches’ then select ‘Lock’.

    2) Or use the ‘Shift’ key and whilst holding it down select the first video event on the track and its corresponding audio and while still holding down the shift key right click on one of the events and use ‘Select Events to End’. Now right click and use ‘Switches’ and ‘Lock’.

Either method will lock all events and then changes can’t be made. Then as Gary said minimise the hight of the locked tracks. I will often rename the track header as ‘LOCKED’ as a reminder.
