I have shot a number of sunrises and sunsets with the HVX 200. Pretty spectacular. One isssue is the lens is not long enough
to get a really big ball in the frame, also suggest you use ND filters, otherwise you might be shooting beyond Barry Green’s F8 recommended ceiling for the lens. You can also pump up the chroma and warm the color temp using the menu, might get loads more noise doing this. -

I exported a 23.97 DVCPROHD FCP timeline into a self contained QT movie, kept original settings, then opened compressor, it saw the 23.97P 16:9 settings, and everything looked clean after rendering, even got to use thin titles with no interlace problems. Progressive totally rules. Some of the whites on the DVD seemed hot to me even though my FCP scopes were not near 100. Did not have a card and HD monitor for accurate quality control.

I still have a couple of questions:
“Use 720 X… whatever you need.”
What is 720X? Is this zoom?
“Don’t use FCP to resize anything with the file either. It won’t do nearly as well if it’s the right size in the first place.”
Because the photoshop layer is so long, say 2000 pixels when I click from the FCP/ Photo Shop sequence clip back up to the viewer, and then drag it back onto my main editing timeline, I end up having to resize the frame from say 20 percent to 100 percent, because
FCP is trying to make my file 480 long instead of 2000. I must be doing something wrong here.Also wondering if constructing this thing in After Effects might look a whole lot better.

Might want to watch out about helicopter vibrations while transfering p2 footage to the p2 store. I would do a test on this.
A sensor will stop the hard drive from accepting material from the p2 card. I have a feeling that you will be shooting in slow motion to reduce vibrations and this will further reduce your record times on the p2 card. Seems to me like you need more cards.
