    Hi Shane,
Thanks for the great P2 workflow tutorial.
What kind of Firewire enclosure are you using to temporaraly connect archival disks?
Is there any issue with the drives being exposed on location? Is it safer to have an portable bus powered 2.5 inch drive– more shock resistent?

We use Andataco hard drives. Bus powered…DUAL firewire 400…rubber casing. I got mine at Fry’s Electronics…and ou USED to be able to order them online, but I can’t find the companies website anymore…so not a good sign.

We also used LaCie Porche bus powered FW400 drives. But I like my Andaco better.

You need a FirmTek eSata Gig …. You can get extra trays for 23.00 and have as many HD in the house as you need.

    THEY ROCK !!

OOP! Where is my head? Adataco drives where the ones we used in an Avid. I just had the name stuck in my head for some reason.

I just looked at my drive and it is an ACOMDATA drive. Ondago Portable:

Thanks Shane and Scott. I think I would go with firmtek or weibetech, I know they have very stout enclosures.

I thought you meant in the field.

Yeah, the weibetech and firmtek are good drives. I myself just use internal drives that I swap out of a single open firewire enclosure. But that is me. Budget was tight.
