Can you define spanned, is that when you have two cars in the camera and they switch mid shot?
I was only using one card at a time.

Thanks Shane
Were you ever able to use the original ProRes 422 not the LT version on your system?
Kind of disappointed that I will not be able to use my MXO in this configuration.
No Pro Res flavors available.I guess the MXO2 supports Pro Res, but the idea of sacrificing my Express Port and having to put my raid on a firewire input — a 50 percent reduction in through put, is not very appetizing. Think the AJA IO HD might be the way to go. Much more expensive and lacks the Max rendering advantage.
Any suggestions besides–get a Mac Pro– would be greatly appreciated.James Mulryan

Tom: Plays in QT fine
Jeremy: RGB buttons on, will try new user. I think you are right about the new user. I had to change my password on my user file to let me even load FCP, or any other program, somehow the password got screwed up when I loaded a clean version of Leopard.
Thank you.

Thanks all
Yes using animation setting.Using this comp as a graphics overlay on FCP DVCPROHD timeline. live action, not over black.
Hate using DVCPROHD as an editing format, but my Matrox MXO and MacBook Pro will not handle Pro Res.
Changed the straight matte to premultiplied, and now drop shadow is coming through.
Looks a bit rough. Maybe my shadow is too thin.James Mulryan

Running animation codex with RGB + Alpha was the trick,
My timeline in FCP was DVCPROHD 720 24p, could not get an RGB and Alpha channel in this codex.
Know I should slap myself for finishing in DVCPROHD. Thinking it might be a good time to switch to pro res.James Mulryan

I have replaced three dual adaptor over the past two years. My current one has to hang over the
side of the desk at a certain angle to work. The last one had to hang over the side of the desk to work too. I think there must be a problem with the angle of the cable, a short of some sort, or perhaps the blade mating with the mac pro, my Sonnet Tempo Express card has a more positive fit with the port. Have tried this port issue with another MacPro and still needed to dangle the dongle to get it to work. This has happened repeatedly with several adaptors, with several OS versions, definitely not a software issue. Also find inserting my card into an already booted macbook pro causes crashing on a regular basis. Must shut down and restart card. Pretty funky solution, but one tenth the price Panasonic’s firewire based solution. Pretty unnerving when you absolutely have to have that download–now. Only recourse is to hook firewire into camera and download that way, tying up the camera, and one firewire port.James Mulryan

No problem with sensors. Might want to use ND9 to bring down exposure.

Here are my two cents:
Just as the DVX 100 brought high quality SD imaging to the masses, the HVX200 brought a high quality HD format, DVCProHD to the masses. Having shot with the HVX for close to three years now, I consider it a revolutionary product– as long as you have a bullet proof backup system. I would go for DVCPRO HD over HDV or any of its successors because of motion and color space problems. This knocks all Sony products out of the running except for the HDCAM or it’s higher end siblings. I don’t see the 700 becoming the next Betacam because of green screen and motion issues.
Unfortunately, most of my of my clients will not use P2– insisting instead on HDCAM or the Varicam.
So the HVX is great for my own documentary projects, any of the higher end models will not, at this point, make enough rental income from clients to justify investing in. Which is a shame, because I imagine that the 3000 and the Varicam 3700 make stunning images. Panasonic needs to come up with a self contained bulletproof backup system that can be used in a hotel room after a day’s shoot. I don’t know what the media would be, but the ease of shooting and the robust nature of P2 blows tape out of the water. If you have 4 64 G cards, you have a ton of storage and you also have a big download headache 240 G of storage using the Dual Adaptor takes two hours to transfer.Yes I guess Panasonic should have come out with a tape based AVC-Intra 100 full raster 60 fps Varicam, Wonder if this format would have worked with existing tape heads and tapes? Goes totally against the tapeless push.
I wouldn’t bash Panasonic too hard. They have come out with some really high quality reliable gear.
