[Simon Ubsdell] “because only sound people know how it should be done ;-)”

    True that !

Will be interesting to see more of these helpful plugins forming some sort of ecosystem around X.

[Simon Ubsdell] “Yes, volume and pan are currently catered for in OMD and AAF.”

It begs the question, why is this functionality now gone ? Its kind of important and forces the audio guys to re-do loads of work completed in the edit bay

er, doesnt seem to do this either:

“X2Pro v1.0 gives a clear warning when it meets comes across elements of a sequence which it does not currently translate such as volume, panning, fades, timemaps, effects and markers.”

It doesn’t translate volume ? Panning ? Was this something that worked before as OMF or AAF export ?

[Andrew Kimery] ” Today I think desktops are approaching where ‘big iron’ computers were a decade ago,”

And where do you think “big-iron” machines are today ? Take a look at Baselight grading clusters, Flames or Smokes…

[Andrew Kimery] ” No. But it will work good enough for enough pros that it will help do to desktop towers what desktop towers did to ‘big iron’ rigs.”

Honestly, good enough ain’t going to cut it round my area. People just dont have time to stare at operators waiting for renders etc

[David Jahns] “The rest of the demo was just as impressive as this review makes it sound, but that title card on black literally took my breath away.

    Boy, that’s super-geeky, eh?”

Its ok , you’re amongst friends here ! I can’t wait to see it in person

Seems very interesting, although I noticed the two footballers showing motion blur dont seem to have the same “washed out vs. true black” effect on them.

Makes me a little sceptical but I need to see this for myself

[Michael Sanders] “It may interest him – and you to know – that someone (according to some blog post I read) high up in BBC Studios and Post P is heavily involved with helping improve Apple FCP X, they are really excited by it. I have no proof of this other than what I read somewhere.. I’ll try and remember where.

I do know BBC scotland are playing with it.”

BBC is a massive company, Im sure somebody somewhere is involved with Apple !

[Lance Bachelder] “Roles are only necessary because they did away with tracks. Is this really better?”

    Exactly !

So yeah, the above fix totally worked. Seems like its amazingly hard to find these drivers when you need them though so spread the word.

Its still impossible to play the files back in digital cinema full preview mode though but hey…Maybe its just me
