thanks for your support…done the already…still sure I am being dumb but the most annoying feature so far (having got to grips with magnetic timelineO is inability to grab that audio bar without selecting clip…I was almost converted.

thank you for feedback…very much appreciated

Thanks for this…done both and no difference…must be something this end surely but cannot think what…trying to grab the audio bar in the timeline is hideously fiddly…seems to respond better if I first try and move it up with mouse and then drop it but nonetheless costing me a lot of time at the moment.

    Any other offers people?

Don’t know if you got a solution to this but for me the keyboard shortcuts for raising and lowering volume do not work

I would have thought the whole point is to have all footage for a specific “project” in one event…if Apple are saying that’s abad idea then I am seriously having severe doubts about the software.

Does FCPX keep backups of the Event or do you…is there some hidden place I do not know about?

Backups is an issue. I am backing up projects by physically copying and pasting everything into a new project every day… is there a better way?

Interested to hear more about this Apple person…if it’s bad idea to load everything into on Event then we are all surely doomed.

I guess that means rushes from each days shoot on a movie should be in a different event but 12 camera angles from a two hour concert for example? Is it not okay to put them all in one Event?

from your blog it seems you have reservations about FCPX moving forwards…do you think they just can’t be bothered with the demands of the professional community?

Should we jump ship after all?

    best

    I hear you…yes that’s a much simpler solution.

Having come back to this software only since 10.05 ( I gave up on version 1) I do occasionally wonder how they came to not incorporate some of this stuff. I suppose it’s like versions 1 thru 5 – kind of a journey for all of us… developers and users alike.

I must say that I struggled to start with to get my head round this workflow but I’m beginning to enjoy it but I can’t quite put my finger on why.

I would really like to be able to scroll in the viewer/canvas window though. – I don’t even know what it’s called in the new parlance!

Could it not be in the right/control click drop menu when you select the storyline?…that’s how Smoke works – the right click drop down menu changes depending on where the cursor is. Clever and simple.

Park playhead – then select the secondary storyline and control click “insert gap” would be cool and would save them having to add even more shortcuts or edit functions,

Thanks…okay got it…on my imac keyboard it’s shift + delete but if you physically go into the edit drop down menu and look for “replace with gap” I may be a dunderhead but that looks like the tab button to me. Perhaps it’s the forward delete key that I have never seen on a mac keyboard.

    Thanks
