In the first instance select clip in event browser and hit Q “connect to Primary storyline” then select connected clip in the timeline and option (or right click) “Overwrite to Primary Storyline” in “Edit” menu. when you are happy with where it is tidy it up but you still have both audio tracks.
You can always “lift from primary storyline” if you want to move it again.

If it’s good rez footage why not just increase the scale (zoom in) until the mic is out of frame>

That’ a maybe as (and I now this sounds weird) but I almost never use photoshop..that kind of work doesn’t come my way much…I’m sure I should because then things like After Effects might be more possible.
As it is I’m fairly pleased with myself just opening FCPX titles in Motion and modifying them a teency bit now and then… schoolboy stuff really

My experience is the same and I am ashamed to say us Brits are less receptive to change and new stuff than our brethren across the pond who embrace new stuff much more readily.
It’s new software. You have to learn new stuff and workflows. It is different. And if you have been happliy earning a living pushing Avid buttons for twenty years to the extent that a lot of it you can do with your eyes shut I absolutely understand the reluctance..the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality.
BUT bet against Apple at your peril…that was my thought anyway so I have had a rather tedious at times three months getting to grips with it. And now I am getting there and if, like me, you hate the sight of render bars you may grow to like it.
I decided to learn it and then slate it from a position of knowledge and I am still learning but when I look at an Avid of FCP 7 window layout it looks a little prehistoric to me now….I’m sure there are some things X still cannot do but those in the UK show jumped ship so early on may yet live to regret not giving it a little more time…I am pleased I stuck with it.

It’s a term I am not familiar with…select a range…drag a range…lasso even. For me a marquee is a very large tent in which people hold weddings and barmitzfahs…

…just done a small job with FCPX. I don’t want to go back to rendering…that was the big thing for me from the start because I am so impatient.

I notice Adobe have a 40% off offer again since 10.0.6 came out. I missed the initial 50% off when FCPX version 1 arrived because I applied to late. Bu I have to thank Adobe for that because I never would have persevered with FCPX had they left it running. Just wonder if they are getting a little nervous there now…because I think we are getting there with FCPX. I even opened some titles in Motion and managed to adjust them for what I needed and then saved back to FCP…that’s major for me as I am really just a film editor type editor and composting and effects have always been a bit beyond me.
Thanks Jeremy for all your input and patience on my journey with X…if ever you are in UK I owe you a beer.
