That’s one way to go but XDCAM EX rendering is very slow in X compared to ProRes, might not be the fastest workflow.

Personally I try to edit completely within Screenflow and take advantage of the high quality scaling and easy call outs and then when I’m totally done I export as ProRes 1080p to incorporate into projects in FCP. If your workflow doesn’t work like that I’d recommend exporting as 1080p ProRes anyway- H.264 might work but at that odd frame size your performance will be really rough.

Create a new custom title in Motion and publish it to FCPX. Then search for that title on your hard drive and note the location and folder structure. Mirror it with the title you migrated over and then FCP X should see it. You could also try reopening the title itself and Motion and republishing to FCP X as well but that would cause it to be a new title and might not resolve the offline issue.

Believe it or not this has less to do with X and more to do with your system. Somewhere one of the drives you’re using either locally or networked is not authorized to be written to by you the currently logged in user. To resolve this try:

Make sure you’re on the very latest X2Pro update.

I’m assuming you’re in 10.0.6. Try letting it load overnight. I’ve seen X look like it’s hung while loading up a project as long as 6 hours then it finally loads and all is well.

If they open in FCPX just right click and Optimize them to ProRes. If not, convert them to ProRes via MPEG Streamclip or Compressor. Either way they should become ProRes QuickTime MOVs. That said, anyone who has a Mac could do the same with most AVIs so I’m not sure a conversion service is particularly necessary.
