Clip>Reference New Parent Clip will make Compound Clip independent from other instances of it you have in use. Otherwise they will all be connected and changes to one will ripple to all. Sometimes this is precisely what you want- i.e. a reused bumper or scene being color graded in a different Project etc. Sometimes it’s not what you want- so use this functionality to take care of it.

Precisely why you should check in with the client to confirm what they really require. It’s also something you could easily farm out- i.e. ProRes to MXF. Not something you get built in with FCPX or any NLE really…

Depending on the specs.
I’d check with the client and determine if they’ll accept prores and do the conversion themselves instead.

Search your hard drive- perhaps you have the folder of a camera card at the root of one of your connected drives.

The only way to safely do it is to Quit Final Cut first.

That setting is ignored by YouTube so not much point in doing this.

Auto-scrolling timeline- unfortunately not a feature in FCP X as of yet.

Sure- just copy the Event or Events while skipping the Original Media folder to your XSAN and move them out of your local Events folder. Then Add San location and relaunch the Event. If it goes offline, go into the Event properties and Modify Event references to point to the Proxies on the SAN.

If I had to guess I’d imagine RED itself would add that support via their Plugin.

5K native or optimized to ProRes? If native- that’s way more data than a FW800 drive can handle.
