I have seen some similar cases online before but all possible solutions do not work. I have a 2 hour video project in FCPX that does not load. I have installed Event Manager and moved and deleted render files. With Event Manager i have disabled all projects except this project and
still its trying to load but FCPX is “not responding” after a while. I am getting a bit desperate as this edit took me a week to make.

If i could only open the project i would be able to cut it smaller in several events.
Any solutions or workarounds would be appreciated.

I’m assuming you’re in 10.0.6. Try letting it load overnight. I’ve seen X look like it’s hung while loading up a project as long as 6 hours then it finally loads and all is well.

Good grief! Are you serious? I have never seen that with any NLE, ever. And you are still using it?

Did you begin the project in FCPX 10.0.5 or before and have many compound clips and then update to FCPX 10.0.6. I have a 25 minute project that I begin in FCPX 10.05 and have a lot compound clips for audio (voice-over) then I update to FCPX 10.0.6 and the problem begin, to open the project it could take 10 to 20 min. I reed at a forum that there is a big difference in compound clips between 10.0.5 and 10.0.6 and that could be the problem. My fix, took all my compound clip and break them apart and recreate compound clip in FCPX 10.0.6, now the project open very fast and without any problem.

    Hope this can help,

How much RAM do you have?

This is my setup: MacPro 5,1 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 12 GB 1066 mhz DDR3, Ati Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB, just upgraden OS to OSX 10.8.2. Files are on a external Western Digital Essential Drive, all events and projects on local HD.

I have also post this on the Apple FCPX forum and so fat the only is let it run. The spinning ball is now running for 9 hours and still nothing happened. Footage is just one track of 2 hours of HD green screen shots with a key applied to it. Nothing more, no compound clips.

The only thing i can do now is delete a weeks hard work and start all over with edits of 10 minutes max.
If FCPX cannot open large projects whats the use of the new Red raw support anyway, just making 2 minute edits i guess?
