For years I have clients who have been using Bitvice to deliver better quality DVDs and broadcast Mpegs.
It is definitely worth a look, and I am sure everyone will see the difference.

Is the firewire connection the only device on the firewire chain? The G5 may have more than 1 firewire port, but they all connect to the same chip.
Make sure there are no external devices connected other than your DV camera.
Connect drives via USB, or buy an additional Firewire card for the drive.

Did you install Snow Leopard or Lion?
I have seen issues before. Use the remover from the fine folks at https://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
After you reinstall FCS (Final Cut Studio) then run software update. There are lots of updates that are needed.

Is it for Mac or Windows. The use to be a free app for Windows called MDV for Avid. It’s hard to come by, but here is a link:

Media Mover has been a staple in the Avid toolbox for years.

Are you actually importing the graphics into the title tool? I wouldn’t do that, you have less control. Simply import then in as their native file format, and Avid will work with them.
If you are in green/green quality, your titles should look clean. Is it possible there is an issue with the font you have? Try Times New Roman and see if it looks bad there as well.
When sending to DVD, it may be an issue of Upper Field verses lower field.

In all fairness, it does ask you twice.
Are you using media from projects other than your own? If you have media you share between projects, then I would create a project called “shared stuff” and digitize the things you need to share in that project.
That would enable you to select only the project you are working in when you delete, and suggest the same thing for other users on your system.

Got bitten by the fact that the projects are just too darn big. Multicam means twice the number of objects, which turns into a larger project.
I discovered that when the Final Cut Pro hit 1.9GB of ram in the activity monitor, then either you get dropout, glitches, or crashes.
Break the projects into smaller pieces and keep an eye on the memory usage (Memory goes up when you hit play, so it sometimes causes a crash simply doing that).
What threw us off the case was that the Black Magic card was named consistently in the error, “Final Cut Pro has unexpectedly quit due to Blackmagic Codec Plugin.”

I had this issue consistently. I even swapped in an AJA card, then the problem followed, but said AJA instead. If you go into Activity monitor, look and see how much memory Final Cut Pro is using.
If it uses 2GB or more, you are going to crash. With the card not outputting video, you can save as much as 250MB of memory usage. So it can be a misleading BM issue.
Project size was the determining factor for me.

Fair enough. When playing back, I will see a green flash. Then it will develop into full on video tearing, including audio blipping. Eventually the client either reboots, or the system crashes.
This is an hour long sequences, and as the sequence develops during the editing process, the system becomes unstable.

This error is relating to the Avid MediaFiles folder on your media drive. The Avid may not have read/write permissions to this volume properly. Does it state which drive this is occurring on? You can go in and rename the Avid MediaFiles folder to xAvid MediaFiles and see if the Avid launches properly. However, your media will be offline.
If you get into the Avid software properly, open a project, and import a small graphic file to drive (where the xAvid Mediafiles folder is on). This will create a new Avid MediaFiles folder that is happy. Now, go into your xAvid MediaFiles folder, then into the MXF folder, and copy the contents of the MXF folder to the new Avid MediaFiles\MXF folder. don’t overwrite MSM.fmid or MSM.pmr.
