  • Title tool and graphic quality

Hi, I am having trouble with the resolution quality of the media composer title tool and while importing photoshop/afx/jpeg files. Actually while importing anything. The easiest to start with seems to be the title tool. I am in a standard project and when I create a basic text 1:1 it looks pixelated. (So do the graphics I import from Photoshop.) The quality viewer is solid green. When output to DVD the quality is still poor.

Import settings are “Image sized for current format” “Ordered for current format” “Computer RGB, dither image colors”

I am running Avid MC 3.5

I am at a loss and need to get this project done!
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Are you actually importing the graphics into the title tool? I wouldn’t do that, you have less control. Simply import then in as their native file format, and Avid will work with them.

If you are in green/green quality, your titles should look clean. Is it possible there is an issue with the font you have? Try Times New Roman and see if it looks bad there as well.

When sending to DVD, it may be an issue of Upper Field verses lower field.

I am not importing the graphics into the title tool. I am leaving them their native file, they are full screen graphics.

I tried Times New Roman and the title is still pixilated. It is very soft in the small sequence monitor and soft and pixilated when playing back full screen. The type is just a simple name, nothing fancy.

I haven’t played with the Upper Field verses lower field yet with the DVDs. It seems like I need to fix the problem in MC first.

It seems as though there is a resolution problem in almost everything: the title tool, full screen graphics imported and any After Effects outputs I import. 🙁 (PS everything is 1:1)

Sorry, going back to basics here.

Is this just when you are paused, or when you are playing as well?

It is when I am playing and after it has been rendered.
