Media100 doesn’t give the option to select an alternative codec when importing. I can reprocess the file before the import with another app or inside the M100 after the import, it’s just a few extra steps.

July 14, 2011 at 8:09 pm in reply to: Media100 Screen Sharing, error code 10002

Media100HD on the G5 works fine IF the cinema display is attached. I can’t get it to cooperate via screen sharing (with no monitor attached to the G5).

We have a 2nd G5 in another suite with monitor that hasn’t been pulled yet. I did try connecting to it and screen sharing works ok, no error code there.

As soon as the AJA boxes arrive it won’t matter but screen sharing would be a more convenient temporary solution than crawling behind the desk to move cables around.

  • I DLed it and installed. It worked fine for most of the day. Just now, I had it stuck again.

I was not able to exit via the menus.

I did find that if I clicked the desktop and then the Media100 window that interested me, I could work in that window, but that one only. So I could save the timeline. But if I go from the program timeline to a bin or any other Media100 window I get funked. If I want to save the bin next, click the desktop, then click the bin window.

July 8, 2011 at 7:45 pm in reply to: RED 5 Auto-Save disabled?

Thanks. I can click on the interval number and change it but no “X” appears in the box next to the auto save option. Is auto save actually turned on after entering an interval number?

July 6, 2011 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Apple software update on 7/5/11

I just did a reinstall from the disks that came with our new MacPro. It installed 10.6.4. I did not wipe the drive or reinstall the Media100 software.

I launched Media100 and the “bad video frame” problem experienced with 10.6.8 is still occurring.

I’m downloading the 10.6.7 update combo. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, do I need to wipe the drive and do a clean install?

Do you want a “consolidated project”? Or will just a .RED project file suffice?

I did turn OpenGL off and have the preview quality HIGH and preview resolution FULL.

It’s not just affecting the previews in RED though. When I return to Media100 Suite and render, I get the same thing that I see (or don’t see) when in RED.

I experimented with various sizes and positions. It seems like masks aren’t sticking correctly when the precomp is altered in RED5. This is how 3D containers in RED4/5 work too. I liked to use precomp containers in RED4 to treat everything like a single unified object. I’d actually prefer both types of containers to act as if everything inside was one object.

July 5, 2011 at 4:33 pm in reply to: WARNING – 10.6.8 Problems

I have this problem with Media100 Suite 2.0 and MacOS 10.6.8.

We just got new Mac Pros and Media100 Suite2. I tried brining in some projects from our old G5 systems, all used the Media100i Codec, and I get the black thumbnails and “bad video frame” error message.

August 6, 2010 at 7:43 pm in reply to: Media100HD 11.5.1 compatible with OSX 10.5.x?

Been trying to get new computers & upgrades through the budget for several years but the powers that be keep shooting it down. We’re crossing our fingers for new macs in 2011 & a big media100 upgrade.

If I test the waters of OSX 10.5 with Media100HD 11.5.1 and it doesn’t work, what’s the quickest/easiest method for reverting OSX to it’s the early 10.4.11?

    Thanks,
    Jaeson

I also prefer a printed manual over electronic documentation, even though there are some nice advantages to the latter. I still leaf through my RED3 manuals.
