I’m currently running Media100HD 11.5.1 on a DualG5 with OSX 10.4.11. Is it safe to upgrade OSX to 10.5.x with my older version of Media100HD?

    Thanks,
    Jaeson

I believe 11.5 was only qualified for 10.4 though I may be wrong.

It may be best to upgrade Media 100 as well.

Been trying to get new computers & upgrades through the budget for several years but the powers that be keep shooting it down. We’re crossing our fingers for new macs in 2011 & a big media100 upgrade.

If I test the waters of OSX 10.5 with Media100HD 11.5.1 and it doesn’t work, what’s the quickest/easiest method for reverting OSX to it’s the early 10.4.11?

    Thanks,
    Jaeson

I would get a 2nd internal HD for, I don´t know, maybe $40, and then clone your boot drive onto it via Carbon Copy Cloner. Then boot from the copy to make sure it is okay, and then do the 10.5 upgrade onto this drive. This way you can switch back to your 10.4.x installation immediately if something goes wrong there. I always recommend having a 2nd, working startup partition in case some installation damages your main boot drive somehow and makes your system unusable otherwise anyway.
