Apple software update on 7/5/11
Posted by Henry Blood on July 5, 2011 at 7:20 pmI’m running Media100 Suite v 1.7.1 Intel. I received an apple software update and ran it. Now video that was exported from Media 100 looks fine in QT but only plays black with noise at the top of the screen on a Media 100 time line. Has anyone else experienced this?

July 5, 2011 at 9:26 pmNot sure if this is related or not but I had heard that if you have 10.6.8 installed on your Mac,
you will run into issues. Apple accidentally broke how their OS reads
codecs and certain M100 codecs will no longer be able to be read by the
application due to this. -

Media 100 is throwing error codes left and right with videos after this update.

July 6, 2011 at 10:45 amIf you have installed 10.6.8 (see in the Apple Menu->About your Mac), then you will experience problems with the MJPEG-B-based Media 100 i codec. Apple broke this once again with this update (they tend to do that from time to time), and it is up to them to fix it again. But I guess the chances are pretty low that we will see a 10.6.9 update, since Lion is around the corner. So if you need to get some work done, you should downgrade to 10.6.7 again (reinstall 10.6.x and update only to 10.6.7 if you find a download version of it). Or if you have a backup of your system (Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner are your friends!!!), you can revert to a state before you installed the update.
Unfortunately there is nothing Media 100 can do about this issue, except filing a bug report with Apple, what they have done already as far as I know. -

July 6, 2011 at 4:02 pmI just did a reinstall from the disks that came with our new MacPro. It installed 10.6.4. I did not wipe the drive or reinstall the Media100 software.
I launched Media100 and the “bad video frame” problem experienced with 10.6.8 is still occurring.
I’m downloading the 10.6.7 update combo. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, do I need to wipe the drive and do a clean install?

July 7, 2011 at 9:24 pmI’m running OS 10.5.8 with QT 7.6.9 with M100 v 1.7.1
I uninstalled and reinstalled just M100 and that took care of my problem, thankfully
