You can copy any path in Illustrator and paste it on a shape in After Effects. If you use an EPS, you can’t use the repeater. It only works on shape layers.

Is the piece of artwork you’re referring to existing or would you be making a shape layer? If you make a shape layer, you could add a repeater to the shape layer and them move the layer along a predetermined path you’ve drawn, or animate the repeater.

Dan also is a frequent poster here and can answer almost any expression related question you have.
I also like School of Motion 30 Days of After Effects on YouTube, which have quite a few lessons that walk you through every step of using expressions to achieve a certain effect. Workbench is also a good resource on YouTube.
As to your expression question, I’m new to expressions as well, so I’m looking forward to somebody, probably Dan, answering that question.

Parent the camera to a null and put all the effects and animations on the null instead of directly on the camera.

Yes, if possible. The segment is called “Advance at a Glance” and I wanted to have the “dv” in advance wiggle random letters and settle on “Gl.”
The company’s font does have weighted fonts, but I was hoping to make this happen in one layer so that I can do the animation.

When you nest clips Premiere creates an entirely new sequence. If you double click the nested sequence in your timeline, or find the sequence in the project panel, you’ll have the original cuts and transitions in a new timeline. From there you should be able to make any changes you need to your original edits.

Have you tried returning the editing layout to the saved layout? Unless you have saved a custom layout for editing it should revert to the default.
Window>Workspaces>Reset to Saved Layout
